This presentation walks through the complex chain of historical events that led to the connected, technology dependent world of 2019, the challenging dangers we face, and if we can answer the question first asked in a Time article in 1965 “Is the computer man’s friend or enemy?”

The Idaho Technology Council’s Spark Series is a montly recurring event with presentations given by tech professionals on issues related to current needs and methodologies. The series is provided at no cost for attendance and is hosted by Perkins Coie.

Sandy Dunn, CISO Blue Cross of Idaho has over 23 years in the software and hardware industry. Initially starting out in software and hardware sales she worked with NASA, JPL, Secret Service, IRS, and other Federal Agencies. Her roles in Cybersecurity have included Competitive Intelligence, Security Engineer, Information Security Officer, Senior Security Strategist, and IT Security Architect. She is relentless in driving a risk based, business focused, cyber security strategic approach through process, standards, and threat intelligence critical infrastructure communities such as H-ISAC.

She has a SANS GSEC, GWAPT, GCPM, GCCC, GCIH, GLEG, GSNA, GSLC, GCPM, Security +, ISTQB, MCSE (expired) CISSP (expired) CCNA (expired) and a Masters from SANS in Information Security Management. She is a frequent speaker and helped organize the first BSidesBoise events in Boise, Idaho.

She has two children, a wonderful husband, too many horses and lives outside of Boise Idaho.
