The Idaho State Tax Commission is recruiting for an IT Information Services Manager in Boise

The highly skilled and motivated individual will manage the day-to-day operations of the agency’s IT Program to ensure a stable application and infrastructure IT environment. The incumbent will serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team and represent the IT department.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Management of the enterprise network infrastructure
  • Establish and oversee the direction, goals and objectives for enterprise server and storage environments, in addition to having additional operational responsibilities for enterprise collaboration, Storage Area Network (SAN), VMware, asset management, disaster recovery, enterprise systems security, application administration and onsite data center
  • Develop, recommend, and monitor budget and control expenditures
  • Implement IT strategies and plans aligning with the agency goals
  • Conduct strategic long range planning and forecasting
  • Plan for and direct installation of new or upgraded IT needs and requirements
  • Develop IT-related policies and procedures
  • Maintain agency IT Resources
  • Manage IT-related projects including development of project scope, goals, budget and implementation
  • Hire, train and direct staff and evaluate performance
  • Manage and maintain agency’s relationship with other agencies, vendors and outside service providers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Considerable knowledge of:
    • Current trends in information technology
    • Computer hardware and software capabilities and limitations
  • Good knowledge of management practices. Desirable management skills related to managing a professional IT application development and IT support staff
  • Experience:
  • Supervising the staff and activities of an IT function
  • Conducting technical training
  • Participating in short-and-long-range IT planning including developing and implementing policies and procedures
  • Information Technology Project Management including development of project implementation strategies, work breakdown and developing measurement processes/methods for assessing progress towards goals and project outcomes.
