Virtual Apprenticeship Accelerator

June 18 @ 11:45 am - 1:45 pm MDT

Join this virtual apprenticeship accelerator, taking place Thursday, June 18, 11:45 a.m. – 1:45 p.m. Mountain Time, and learn how youth apprenticeship can be used to enhance a business’ talent development pipeline and provide local youth with hands-on training and related instruction leading to industry-recognized credentials and a career.
In the first half of this virtual event, national apprenticeship experts, including JFF, a national nonprofit that drives change in the American workforce and education systems to achieve economic advancement for all, Manufacturers Association of Central New York (MACNY), and Scott Ellsworth, Federal/State Apprenticeship Consultant, will provide an overview of the components and benefits of an apprenticeship and the U.S. Department of Labor registration process. The Idaho Workforce Development Council and Idaho Department of Labor will also highlight how Idaho businesses can partner with local high schools to hire and train their students through the School to Registered Apprenticeship Program (STRAP) and the funding and other assistance available.
The virtual event’s second half will provide attendees the option to join smaller breakout rooms and interact directly with the presenters, participating STRAP and apprenticeship employers, and other Idaho Department of Labor representatives. The breakout rooms will be an opportunity to delve deeper into the topics of apprenticeship and STRAP through additional Q&A, participating STRAP employer perspectives on implementation and benefits gained, guidance on how schools can connect their students to STRAP opportunities, and discussion on how apprenticeship and STRAP can fit within your business and school.
