This position is a member of a team that is responsible for providing day-to-day administration of enterprise applications. Under general direction the application administrator’s primary responsibility will be to perform daily administration and infrastructure support for the Documentum Enterprise Content Management systems, with secondary responsibility for other enterprise applications as assigned.
Duties & Responsibilities
Applies complex updates and fixes to various applications.
Facilitates planning of application updates to minimize downtime.
Troubleshoots and resolves issues with the application(s) at the system level.
Sets up and monitors the application servers and web servers for various applications.
Performs application tuning according to vendor instructions, as needed.
Documents system proposals, outlining problems, alternatives and recommendations.
Recommends solutions based on performance, costs, scheduling, time and benefits.
Documents process diagrams, data flow diagrams, data maps and data dictionaries as appropriate.
Creates and maintains system documentation.
Creates and maintains documentation on any modifications to default installation of various applications.
Creates documentation and check lists for internal processes that can be easily understood by another team member.
Responsible for coordinating change and configuration management for all application changes in the enterprise.
Test and validation of desktop packages including service packs and critical manufacture updates.
Plans, applies and validates upgrades, patches and customizations.
Recommends, gains approval for and implements system improvements.
Participates in design teams associated with enhancements to the applications.
Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
Facilitates system administration support including server and client installations, and associated documentation required to optimize the performance of this system.
Develops, tests, and maintains system backups.
Monitors and provides performance tuning to system components as required to ensure optimum system functionality.
Qualifications
4-year college degree (CIS, CS, MIS preferred) or education and work experience equivalent.
Minimum of three years’ experience:
Providing datacenter level support for software applications.
Data Base Operator skills with Microsoft SQL Server (MCDBA is a plus).
Expertise managing websites and web applications (.NET preferred).
Demonstrated knowledge of web clustering technologies and deployment tools.
Knowledge of database connectivity issues.
Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Active Directory.
Knowledge of TCP/IP connectivity over an Ethernet based network.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Must be detail oriented.
Effective presentation, organizational and planning skills.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to explain complex procedures in an easily understood manner.
Demonstrated organization skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, organize and coordinate a high volume of information.
